Birthday Ceremony on Banquet Boat

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We celebrated John’s birthday with High Tea on the wonderful Banquet Boat based in Dartmouth.  Sarah and Callum welcomed us aboard with Prosecco then motored up the river to Dittisham.  Sarah then brought out a feast of delights for us to eat with lashings of tea and more Prosecco.

We raised our glasses to John and sang Happy Birthday as he blew out the candles on the Strawberry Meringue Roulade – specially chosen as it was Gluten Free.

We returned three hours later after our trip on the Dart – we even saw a large seal sunning itself on the beach.

A memorable day and we were looked after with smiles and care.  Nothing was too much trouble for Sarah and Callum, we highly recommend them – they even played our favourite music!

All ceremonies can be performed on this beautiful boat for up to 12 guests.  have a look at their website then call me for more information about your Renewal of Vows, Weddings, Baby Namings and even Funeral Wakes.

Adventures of a Celebrant in Venice – Part 9

As well as being filled with people and great architecture, Piazza San Marco is also full of pigeons. Feeding these birds is banned but they flocked to our couple with hope and it made a great photoshoot for Tara

Through Naomi and Grahams work with their charity, Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, a friend asked them to search for a padlock she and her husband had attached to one of the bridges.  It is such a romantic gesture and represents the couple’s committed love.  After identifying the Rialto Bridge from the photos, we eventually found the padlock and Naomi and Graham attached one of their own.  It was a very moving moment as their friends were remembered with love.

As evening fell, I performed the Toast in a cosy restaurant which was a fitting end to a wonderful day.  I was delighted to capture their unique love and marriage in these personalised words.

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

So let’s raise our glasses in a toast to the strong and courageous Graham and Naomi.”

The next morning we ended our Venice celebrations with a romantic Water Taxi ride back to the airport and home again whilst reflecting on the special events we were privileged to be a part of.

I am so glad I got to know Naomi, Graham, Devon, Tara and Tracy and I look forward to writing and performing ceremonies, drinking Bellinis, eating pasta, sailing in gondolas, sharing breakfast and having many laughs with them in the future.

Adventures of a Celebrant in Venice – Part 8

Daisies are the flowers that symbolise a Fifth Anniversary, a small flower with a large meaning, depicting innocence, loyal love, purity, love that conquers all, beauty and simplicity.

I guided our couple to exchange the daisies.  In so doing, their gift to each other is the gift of love.

As a close and loving family, Graham and Naomi chose their son, Devon, to be their witness and to sign the certificate of this ceremony, which he did with great seriousness and gravity.

After saying the Closing Words, I ended with a beautiful poem just perfect for their marriage:

Once in a lifetime

Once in a lifetime you find someone

Who touches not only your heat, but also your soul.

Once in a lifetime you discover someone who stands beside you, not over you.

You find someone who loves you for who you are, and not for who you could be.

Once in a lifetime, you find someone…

As you have found each other

Anon

Graham then kissed his beautiful wife!

After the cheers and applause, our audience drifted away and we continued to celebrate with hugs all round.
