Ceremonies and Children

When you decide to celebrate your love in a Wedding Ceremony or Renewal of Vows, include your children as they are such a big part of you both.  They can be Ring Bearers, place flowers in a vase, light a candle, join in a Sand Ceremony and Hand Fasting ceremony and, of course hand out the chocolates for the Chocolate Ritual!  They will remember your day for the rest of their lives.

Wedding Ceremonies

Choosing a celebrant to deliver your wedding ceremony gives you a whole range of options that a registrar just can’t.  So….you can have your ceremony anywhere, not just licensed venues.  I have performed ceremonies in couples’ favourite places; beaches, woods, their own gardens, hotels, on boats, cliff tops.  I often recommend Middle Coombe Farm, Tiverton; The Barn, South Milton; Putsborough Beach in North Devon and Bovey Castle, Dartmoor.

Your ceremony can include: walking down an aisle, giving and blessing of rings, exchanging of vows, lighting of candles, poetry, even religious or spiritual words. Symbolic Rituals to unite you could include Rose Ceremony, Sand Ceremony, Hand Fasting and Jumping the Broom, often coupes choose all of these!  I have even written Cocktail Rituals and Chocolate Ceremonies to make the wedding as personal and unique as you are.  Part of the fun is choosing which ones suit you the best!

Flower Ceremonies – Wedding

Flower Ceremonies bring your family and friends together as they place a flower each into the vase.

“I would now like to ask everyone who is holding an orange rose to come forward and place them into this vase.  An Orange rose is a symbol of enthusiasm, desire and excitement and are the elements that they would like to bring to their marriage.  The roses are placed in the vase along with all of your hopes, best wishes and love for them both”.

You then place your flowers in the vase as a symbol of your unity with your new families.

Castle Wedding

Joyce and Jiapeng chose the beautiful Bovey Castle Hotel in Devon for their wedding ceremony.  Their families came all the way from China and, on one of the hottest days of the year, they witnessed the love between the couple and their gorgeous daughter Emma.

To unite their families I performed a Candle Ceremony.  I invited both mothers to come forward to light two candles representing the love and support of their families.  I then invited Jiapeng and Joyce to take the candles and light the centre candle.  As the one light cannot be divided so they would be united from this day forth and go forward into a shining lifetime together.

Joyce and her mother made the Hand Fasting cord together and all the guests placed pink roses, a symbol of grace, joy, admiration and happiness, in the vase along with all of their hopes, best wishes and love for them both.

From this day forward,

You shall not walk alone.

My heart will be your shelter,

And my arms will be your home.

Jiapeng and Joyce sent me their photographs with a lovely note:

Jiapeng and I would like to thank you very much Sarah. You have been very helpful since our first phone call and meeting. You used your experience to help plan the whole wedding ceremony. It was a perfect day and everyone enjoyed it so much!

Lily of the Valley Ceremony

Flowers are important to Chris and Louise and they chose Lily of the Valley for their ceremony.  Apart from being one of Lou’s favourite flowers, Lily of the Valley is the May birth flower and it is said to mean “Return of Happiness”  It is also said that to hand Lily of the Valley to your loved one shows that your relationship is finally complete.  A beautiful ceremony for a very special couple – and their gorgeous dogs, Izzy and Dexter – at Endsleigh House Hotel near Tavistock, Devon.

Callington Gospel Choir are an excellent choir and sung Lovely Day for their Entrance Music and closed the ceremony with Happy Day.  Best Wishes and much love to the happy couple.

Lou and Chris wrote:

Thank you for making our day so special. It was a wonderful romantic ceremony and we were so happy with the words. All our guests commented on how lovely it was. I would highly recommend Sarah for your special days.

Cliff top Wedding Ceremony

A glorious day for Aimee and Tom’s wedding as I performed a Flower Ceremony as part of their personal Wedding Ceremony.

They chose pink peonies for a happy marriage, white roses for new beginnings, purity and charm and blue hydrangeas for gratitude.  These were the elements that they would like to bring to their marriage.  Family and friends placed their flowers in the vase along with all of their hopes, best wishes and love for them both.

They wrote a beautiful email afterwards with their photographs and these words:

We wanted to say a big thank you for the incredible ceremony, so many people comments on how lovely it was.  Thanks again
