Renewal of Vows – 40 years

June and Tom celebrated their Renewal of Vows after 40 years together!  Their ceremony was held in their garden and when it rained – we all ran into their gorgeous large sun room.  They both told stories of how they met and first impressions of each other, which made everyone laugh!

Their children and grandchildren made a Circle of Blessing around the couple and, as each said a few words, passed June and Tom’s wedding rings around the ribbons.

We celebrated with Champagne and afternoon tea.  Perfect!

Ceremonies and Children

When you decide to celebrate your love in a Wedding Ceremony or Renewal of Vows, include your children as they are such a big part of you both.  They can be Ring Bearers, place flowers in a vase, light a candle, join in a Sand Ceremony and Hand Fasting ceremony and, of course hand out the chocolates for the Chocolate Ritual!  They will remember your day for the rest of their lives.

Wedding Ceremonies

Choosing a celebrant to deliver your wedding ceremony gives you a whole range of options that a registrar just can’t.  So….you can have your ceremony anywhere, not just licensed venues.  I have performed ceremonies in couples’ favourite places; beaches, woods, their own gardens, hotels, on boats, cliff tops.  I often recommend Middle Coombe Farm, Tiverton; The Barn, South Milton; Putsborough Beach in North Devon and Bovey Castle, Dartmoor.

Your ceremony can include: walking down an aisle, giving and blessing of rings, exchanging of vows, lighting of candles, poetry, even religious or spiritual words. Symbolic Rituals to unite you could include Rose Ceremony, Sand Ceremony, Hand Fasting and Jumping the Broom, often couples choose all of these!  I have even written Cocktail Rituals and Chocolate Ceremonies to make the wedding as personal and unique as you are.  Part of the fun is choosing which ones suit you the best!

Sandwell Manor for Ceremonies

I have just come back from meeting Kizzy at Sandwell Manor near Totnes.  What an amazing venue for all your celebrations!  We talked about Weddings, Namings, Renewal of Vows and even Funeral ceremonies. You and your family and friends can stay for the weekend or even enjoy your celebration for a week.  There is a Pavilion, large house and beautiful grounds – even a glorious tree for your hand fasting ceremony.  As they are also only 2 miles from my home they are definitely my favourite venue!

Perfect for groups of family or friends to relax and create lasting memories

Have a look at their website and contact them for more information.

Ellie and Joe’s Wedding

Ellie and Joe wrote:  I just wanted to say thank you for everything you did you make our ceremony so perfect

It was a glorious day as we celebrated Ellie and Joe’s wedding in Ellie’s parents garden.  We watched the bride and her father following her Bridesmaids and Flower Girl as they walked from the house to the field to meet her handsome groom.

What is a Marriage?

What is a marriage?

It’s loving and cherishing, hopefully relishing

Its hosting and toasting and Sunday roasting

Its having and holding, the odd little scolding

It’s guessing, confessing and nightly undressing

It’s trying, relying, a little white lying

It’s snoring, adoring, occasionally boring

It’s knowing and showing and mutually growing

It’s compliment giving and always forgiving

It’s sharing and caring and dressing gown wearing

It’s walking, its talking and bottle uncorking

It’s tender supporting and raucous cavorting

It’s secret confiding and shoulder providing

It’s readily praising and often amazing

It’s loving, respecting and calmly accepting

It’s cleaning, its mopping, its waltzing and bopping

Its needing, conceding and possibly breeding

It’s playing and paying, its coping and staying

It’s comfort when weeping, a warm body sleeping

It’s lives interweaving and always believing

That’s what makes a marriage.

Their hand fasting cord was made of three strands with their beautiful dog Luna’s fur woven into the white ribbon;

White– Wholeness, completion and inspiration

Green – Growth, prosperity and balance

Blue – Understanding, patience and loyalty

They walked back down the aisle as their guests cheered and threw lavender and rose petals!

NAOMI AND GRAHAM – RENEWAL OF VOWS 2018

On a beautiful hot day in early June, Naomi and Graham renewed their vows – again.  I have been privileged to create and perform Renewal of Vows Ceremonies for this lovely couple each year.  Thank you Naomi and Graham for asking me to be a part of your amazing story.

This couple are awe inspiring as, after a diagnosis of cancer in 2012, they set up The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation and now organise and fund weddings for those affected by terminal and life-limiting illnesses, helping them to enjoy married life before it’s too late.

“Thank you so much once again for writing and conducting such a beautiful blessing for us.  6th June is so special to us, not just because it is out anniversary, but because we get to spend it with you.  You are a special friend.”
