The next day brought mixed sunshine and rain so Graham and Naomi took advice from Tara and aimed to have the ceremony in the Piazza San Marco in the late afternoon.

Andy and I went exploring.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Highlights included: coffee in a small bar which suddenly filled with Gondoliers shouting greetings to each other; shop windows filled with Murano glass chandeliers; brilliantly coloured Carnival Masks and street entertainers and musicians.

Of course we had to take an iconic trip along the canals past ancient palazzi and magnificent cathedrals, gardens and bridges on a traditional handcrafted gondola.

My senses came alive with the sights and sounds of this beautiful city.
